Description

Pepperoni & Cheese Stromboli is a delicious Italian recipe that has been served for centuries. This soft bread filled with pepperoni and cheese makes a perfect lunch on the go!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (16 Oz. Size) Frozen Pizza Dough
  • ½ cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 6 slices American Cheese
  • 30 slices Thinly Sliced Pepperoni, More Or Less As Desired
  • Olive Oil (enough To Brush Onto The Dough)
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 F.

Prepare the dough as directed in the package (let it sit out of the freezer until dough is soft and at room temperature). Then roll the dough into a rectangular shape and put it onto a large parchment paper lined baking tray. Down the center of the rectangle of dough, sprinkle on the shredded cheese (leave about 1/3 of the dough open on each side of the cheese). Place the slices of American cheese on top of the shredded cheese. Cover all the cheeses with the pepperoni slices.

With a sharp knife or pizza roller cut strips of the dough down the two sides leaving it still attached to the center (see above photo or related blog link for step-by-step photos). Fold in the two ends first and then fold in the side strips of dough in a zig zag motion, one strip over the other (kind like working with shoe laces).

Once the dough is wrapped brush olive oil gently on top of the loaf and sprinkle Italian seasoning to taste. Bake at 400 F for about 20 minutes or until the dough is light brown.
