Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a muffin tray with liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of your mixer, on medium speed, beat together the eggs, buttermilk, brown sugar, melted butter and vanilla until combined.
On low speed, add the flour mixture, and mix until combined. Add the chopped walnuts and 1 cup of the chocolate chips, and mix on low speed until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the lined muffin cups. Top the muffins with the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.
Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean.
Let cool before enjoying!
