This bread was wonderful, and super easy to make. Great for sandwiches, or warm with butter and honey.

I have made this bread 3 times for my family. It is delicious and easy to make. We have eaten it by itself as well as on sandwiches. My kids love toasted peanut butter and banana sandwiches with this yummy bread.

Very delicious bread. I halved the recipe and ended up with two small loaves. Thanks for sharing!

Love this recipe…bread is great for sandwiches, and really easy to make. I’m getting ready to make another batch so we can take it with us on our road trip!

This was my first attempt at bread, and it was amazing! We each ate two pieces while it was still nice and warm, so good! and it was awesome toasted the next morning for breakfast as well, thank you!

this is my goto recipe for our everyday healthy bread for sandwiches, toast, breadcrumbs, breadpudding…. the scraps are as great as the fresh loaf! …and easy to put together using my kitchenaid mixer.

I make this bread all the time now – it makes the best toast and sandwich bread!

This was really yummy. It was my first attempt at making bread and the 2nd time it turned out well. The water being 120 degrees was too hot for my yeast to set but when I had the water be lukewarm it all turned out right!

Delicious! I cut the recipe in half and made two small loaves. Made the dough in the bread machine. It rose beautifully and tasted wonderful.

This recipe was my first attempt at making bread. It turned out great! I love it buttered and toasted. A recommendation for beginners is to make sure and use a thermometer for the yeast temperature so you don’t kill it.

This bread is so good!
I had all the stuff to make it (or so I thought I did) so I tried it out yesterday with my son, and when it came to the honey I was short just over a tablespoon. So I added some maple syrup. Hah it worked out just fine and I mixed the dough in the bread machine and rolled it out after.
It tastes just like this bread a mom used to make for me every time I used to go over and babysit her kids. She would always have it warm out of the oven for me and leave out some butter.. mmm. It was better than being paid at the end of the day! I’ve been trying to get my hands on a recipe just like that one ever since, so thanks very much!
Best bread ever! I’ll be making this all the time.

This bread was easy enough for my first time making bread. It turned out great and delicious.
The only problem I had was I killed the yeast the first time trying to get the temp between 120-130, maybe my thermometer was off.

This Bread was FABULOUS and MOIST. This is my third attempt at making bread with different recipes, and all previous ones have failed. This was by far the BEST tasting and the healthiest. I will be making this again and again.

This, I must make! Years ago, I made a whole wheat bread that was a staple in our home, but unfortunately, lost the recipe after three different moves. I’ve searched forever for it or one that’s close and this is it! Thanks so much for your great recipe!

I have a few questions. Can I freeze 1 of the loaves to bake in a few days? Where in the process would I freeze? Before I set it out to rise or after it has risen? Then what would the defrost/bake process be?
Also, can I make rolls out of this dough? My six year old really likes rolls used on his sandwiches. He would be stoked if we could make some.

I must be the only one who didn’t have a good experience making this bread. I followed the recipe exactly, but unfortunately, since it didn’t specify whether to keep the yeast/honey/water mixture ON the burner or remove it, I assumed I needed to remove it, which I did. I must be the only one who did that, too, because this was a disaster. The bread didn’t rise AT ALL, and it came out about as hard as a baseball, which is about what it tasted like, too. I can only guess that it is because I didn’t keep the yeast mixture on the heat, but I wasted about 4 hours of my Saturday on this, and I will probably never make it again. Can you provide some more details in the instructions so this won’t happen to another unsuspecting soul??

loved this bread I have been adjusting it. I added 1/2 cup of 10 grain hot cereal and sunflower seeds. It is great this is a great recipe.

rain27215, it sounds like you may have killed your yeast. Although you removed the honey/yeast mixture from the burner, the liquids could have still been too hot. I check liquids before adding yeast by testing how it feels on my skin: if it feels warm, it’s too hot for the yeast; if it feels cold, it’s too cold for the yeast; if it doesn’t feel like anything, it’s ready.

Rain27215, I’m so sorry this didn’t work out for you. I’ve clarified the instructions.
