Description

Homemade sugar-free donuts, easy, hassle-free and delicious. What else could you ask for?

Ingredients

  • ½ ounces, weight Fresh Yeast
  • 1 cup Lukewarm Milk Or Water, Divided
  • 5 cups Flour
  • 3  Eggs
  • 4 Tablespoons Melted Butter
  • Oil, As Needed For Frying

Preparation

Add yeast to half of the lukewarm milk or water and stir well. Let sit for 5 minutes until yeast is activated (starts to foam or froth).

Add flour, eggs, butter and remaining milk in a big bowl. Mix in yeast mixture. Knead until dough is completely smooth.

Place dough in a lightly floured bowl. Cover and leave in a warm place for half an hour to rise.

Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and roll out to the thickness of about the width of 1 finger. Use a donut cutter to cut out donuts. Transfer to a lightly-floured flat surface that in a draft-free, warm spot. Cover lightly with tea towels and let rise for another half an hour.

Fill frying pan with oil and heat until sizzles. (Be patient and don’t try to put donuts in the oil if the oil is not hot enough. You can try dropping a little leftover dough in the oil and if it rises immediately to the surface, the oil is ready.) Carefully place donuts into the frying pan. Donuts should float to the top and puff up. Use a metal fork to flip donuts. Remove them from the oil as soon as they are golden brown on both sides.

Place donuts on paper towels to cool and drain.
