Description

Queen Elizabeth II’s scone recipe. Slightly interpreted by Megan Pence.

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 4 Tablespoons Fine Grain Sugar
  • 2 cups Milk, Divided
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 3 teaspoons Cream Of Tartar
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400ºF.

In small bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar and half of the milk.

Pour into a large bowl and, with a wooden spoon, stir in flour. Mix well. Add in remaining milk. Stir in baking soda, cream of tartar and lastly, melted butter.

Mix until all ingredients are just incorporated. Do not beat until smooth.

Dollop evenly onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with tea, warm butter and jam.
