Description

Soft tender biscuits with a pop of green chile and a touch of cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Heart-healthy All-purpose Baking Mix, Plus Extra For Kneading And Dusting The Work Surface
  • 1 cup Shredded Colby-jack Cheese
  • 1 can (4 1/2 Oz. Size) Chopped Green Chiles, Well Drained
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ⅔ cups 1% Milk

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 450ºF.

In a medium bowl, combine the baking mix, shredded cheese, drained chiles, garlic powder and milk, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Sprinkle your work surface with a little baking mix and turn the dough out onto the prepared surface. Knead the dough lightly 3-4 times, adding a little baking mix, if needed, to prevent the dough from being overly sticky.

Pat or roll the dough to 1/2″ thickness and cut with a 2 1/2″ round cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 450ºF for 10-12 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown. Makes about 1 dozen.

Great recipe! Are you getting you chili from New Mexico, though? Real New Mexican chilies make all the difference in the world. I get mine from the CHIMAYO CHILE BROS. I always buy American chile, the stuff they import from Mexico, China and India, are just not as good ;-(
