Description

This yummy banana bread recipe was handed down to me by my grandma. (Grandma used salt, I do not. Even with salt, it’s “low sodium.”)

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Shortening
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 3 whole Bananas, Mashed
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt (Optional; I Don't Use It)

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Cream shortening and sugar.

3. Add eggs and beat well.

4. Add bananas and mix.

5. Sift flour, baking soda and cinnamon together. (I omit the salt, but if you’re going to use it, include it in sifting.) Add to the above creamed mixture and beat well.

6. Pour mixture into 1 large loaf pan or 2 small ones.

7. Bake at 375F for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Delicious alone or with butter on it.
