Description

Do you always want to have fresh biscuits on hand? Then THIS is the recipe for you.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
  • 8 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ cups Butter, Cold
  • 1-¾ cup Buttermilk Or Kefir

Preparation

Into a large bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture looks like coarse meal. Stir in kefir or buttermilk. Form dough into a soft ball and turn out onto a well floured surface. Roll out to desired thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter.

Place biscuits in a box, separated by layers of wax paper. Freeze.

When ready to bake, heat oven to 450 degrees F. Bake frozen biscuits until golden brown, about 14-18 minutes.

I hate it when people leave comments without trying the recipe, but I’ll do it anyway. This seems like a very simple way to have homemade biscuits on hand. I am not a fan of Pillsbury biscuits. Thanks.

There’s only 2 of us in my household so I try to freeze items as much as possible to make weeknight meals easier. These seem easy enough :)
