Description

Who needs a fast food joint when you can make these at home?

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BISCUITS:
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1-½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Shortening
  • ⅔ cups Milk
  • ½ cups Raisins
  • _____
  • FOR THE ICING:
  • 1 cup Confectioners Sugar
  • 5 teaspoons Milk
  • ¾ teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Preparation

In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cut in shortening till you have a crumbly appearance. Stir in milk and raisins and mix until just combined.

Turn dough onto floured surface and knead about 2 minutes. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a floured 2 inch biscuit cutter.

Place on an ungreased baking sheet in a preheated 450F oven for 12- 15 minutes or until golden.

Mix icing ingredients in a small bowl until well combined. Drizzle biscuits with icing and enjoy.

Girl don’t you know I am a carb addict and I can’t resist biscuits in any form? These sound great. Hubby is out of town so they might just be dinner for me. :-)

I have been looking forward to making these since the day the recipe was posted, and I wasn’t disappointed. Even hubby commented and he usually has little to say about his food. The dough is so easy to work with. I will add this one to my recipe box to make again and again.
