Description

Don’t be afraid—these have the perfect amount of heat. And with a little honey drizzled on top? Divine!

Ingredients

  • 2-⅓ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Chipotle Salsa
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter, Cold And Cut Into Small Cubes
  • 2 cups Pepper Jack Cheese, Shredded
  • 1-¼ cup Milk
  • 1 whole Egg

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 F.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, pepper, chipotle salsa, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Using your hands or an electric mixer, add in butter and combine until the mixture is coarse and crumbly. Add in pepper jack and stir until evenly combined.

In a small bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Add it to the flour mixture and stir until just combined (do not over mix!)

Use an ice cream scoop or your hands to roll the dough into 10 balls (if using your hands, wet your hands with water to prevent dough from sticking to you). Place balls about 2 inches apart on baking sheet and press down into a cylinder about 1/2 inch thick.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until scones are golden brown on top. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly.
