Description

I love scones! I received a scone pan for Christmas and I’m having a blast trying out new recipes. Here’s one we love.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • ⅓ cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Salted Butter
  • ½ cups Half-and-half
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ½ teaspoons Almond Extract
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • ¾ cups Dried Cherries, Chopped
  • ½ cups Slivered Almonds
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar, To Sprinkle Over Scones

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 F. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter with knife or fork.

In a glass measuring cup, whisk together half-and-half, egg, and extracts. Stir milk mixture into flour mixture. Add cherries and almonds. Work mixture together until it sticks together and forms a ball. Using your hands, knead together 4-7 times.

Divide the dough into 8 portions and place them in a lightly greased scone pan. Pat to form them into the pan. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.

Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes and turn out of pan. Serve warm with a cup of tea. Yum!
