Description

You can’t beat a homemade biscuit! These cheesy cilantro biscuits are easy to make and delicious to eat!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ¾ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Finely Chopped
  • 1 stick Unsalted Cold Butter
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, Grated
  • ⅓ cups Fresh Cilantro, Chopped

Preparation

Heat the oven to 350 F.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.

Blend the cold butter into the dry ingredients (Josh used his hands to do this). Blend until the mixture has pea-sized chunks of butter left. It will be crumbly and that is a good thing. You want to see little pieces of butter. Don’t over blend.

Pour in the buttermilk and stir with a wooden spoon. Gently mix, just until the ingredients are moist. Don’t overmix.

Gently stir in the cheese and cilantro, just until they are mixed throughout.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat. With a spoon, scoop the biscuits onto the baking sheet. For jumbo biscuits, use about 1/3 cup of dough. For smaller biscuits, use about 3 tablespoons of dough. Bake the jumbo biscuits for 15-18 minutes. Bake the smaller biscuits for 12-15 minutes. You want them to be golden brown on top and on the bottoms.

Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Serve warm.

yum! i was out of fresh garlic (travesty, i know) but i threw in some garlic powder and they were still delicious. and they were so much easier than the recipes that require rolling and cutting. thanks twopeasandtheirpod for sharing!

These turned out really well. Although the prep time for me was longer than 5 min. (took awhile to make the right consistency with the butter) it still didn’t take much time at all. I had to bake for a little longer than recommended due to the altitude here but they looked much like the picture.

I added the garlic in with the cheese and cilantro since I didn’t see where it said to add them. Overall I definitely recommend this recipe! It went great with our smoked BBQ brisket and mac and cheese.

I made these tonight, but I’m not a huge fan of cilantro so I used green onions instead. They were absolutely delicious and so easy to make! We ate them with the southwestern chowder recipe on TK. It was definitely a good combo!

I noticed I forgot to mention when to add in the garlic-OOPS! Add it when you add in the cheese and cilantro! Sorry about that friends!

They were good but the garlic was a bit much….I would recommend 1 clove if not a half a clove.

Delicious! The recipe was very easy to put together and quick too. I really like that they are so colorful which makes for a great presentation. Served these tonight with some homemade chili. They were a hit! Thank you for sharing the recipe!

These were delicious and they made the house smell great, too. Really simple to put together. I did a half batch and had no problems.

Oh Wow these were AMAZING!!!!
I’m from Toronto and have never made biscuits before (I know gasp… trust me I was the one missing out).

The Cilantro wasn’t very strong but, it gave it a bright flavor and it looked amazing. I made the large biscuits and the cooking time was good.

They tasted a bit like the biscuits I remember getting years ago at Red Lobster (haven’t been in years).

Make them you won’t regret it.
