Description

These are the BEST biscuits! They are light and crispy on the bottom and filled with buttery love…

Ingredients

  • 2-¼ cups Self Rising Flour, Plus Extra For Your Work Surfaces
  • 1 stick Real Unsalted Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • ⅔ cups Milk
  • Melted Butter, Enough To Brush Tops Of Biscuits

Preparation

1. Cut butter into pea sized pieces, toss it with a little of the flour (to prevent sticking) and place it into the freezer for one hour or more.
2. Combine remaining flour, sugar and salt.
3. Add cold butter and cut it into the flour mixture.
4. Gently stir in beaten egg and milk. Stir just until combined.
5. Pour dough onto a floured surface, sprinkle dough with flour and press it out to about 1″ thick. (Do not knead or over work the dough).
6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds of the dough and place them into a greased pan.
7. Place in freezer until ready to bake. (Keeping that butter cold is the key to flakiness).
8. Brush tops of biscuits with butter.
9. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes.
10. Brush with butter again and serve.
