Made this today…VERY good. 25 min was a little long in my oven, but I know it can vary. I also halved the recipe and it made about 12 rolls, which was the perfect amount. Will make them again…thanks for sharing this recipe!

These are delicious! I had an old favorite cinnamon roll recipe but decided to try this one because the picture looked so good! This is my new recipe! These bake up so soft and tender and the frosting is extra tasty!

Delicious! Made them last night and ate them this morning. The rolls are so tender and I love the caramel frosting! I didn’t have time to let it rise for an hour and a 1/2 on the second rise so I just did a 1/2 hour, but they turned out just fine anyways. Incredible!

Made these this afternoon and couldn’t wait to try them after smelling my kitchen while they cooked. They did not disappoint, they were delicious! I used leftover mashed potatoes, and I only let them rise 1 hour on the 2nd rising. The icing was wonderful – love that caramel flavor. The filling does not make as much as the filling for PW’s rolls, I like them with lots of gooey insides, so I doubled that part and thought it was perfect . Thanks for a great recipe.

Made these the first time this weekend for our “after the Homecoming Dance” party. The kids loved them. Afterwards my husband sat down to eat one and his comment, verbatim, was “OMG, there’s absolutely nothing about this that’s cardiologist approved!” I think that about sums it up!
On a side note, I didn’t feel like rolling out dough at 2:30 in the morning, so I sprinkled some flour on a large piece of parchment and then floured my hands well and just patted them out into a large rectangle. It worked like a charm! I’ll do it this again for sure! I iced my rolls with a simple glaze of powdered sugar, vanilla, and evaporated milk. They disappeared in the blink of an eye!

These are absolutely wonderful! They are so soft and tender! I love the caramel frosting on them too! This is the second time I’ve made these. I have different cinnamon bun recipe that I use, but this one replaces it now! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!

Best cinnamon roll recipe I’ve tried!! We loved these. The dough was perfect and the caramel icing was delicious. I added a little more filling than the recipe called for but didn’t change anything else. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

These rolls are now by far my favorite sweet treat. They are time consuming to make, but that just heightens the anticipation. They were well worth the wait!

emeraldotter- I think it makes them softer and fluffier.

I have a similar recipe from a good friend who also lived near Amish country. She uses instant mashed potato and, having made them myself with the instant, I can confidently say that that works just fine. Delicious rolls!!!! They’ve become special day morning treats.
Also, you can freeze before the second rise and they’ll keep up to a month. Or refrigerate overnight before the second rise so you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn…

I used regular leftover mashed potatoes in my rolls. Was a tiny bit concerned as I put pepper in my spuds when I mash them, but they were excellent! Couldn’t tell there was pepper in them at all!

I just have a question, I made these rolls over the weekend but I questioned the amount of yeast. Do I really need to put 2 packages of .75 ounces of yeast? Please let me know, I only used 2 .25 ounce packages of yeast. Thanks!!!

tcbing5266- You were right. I usually put in two regular size packets and I just looked and each packet is .25 ounces. I must have mis-typed. And I even triple checked! Oops!
Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention!

so delicious. except – my irish grandma said they were irish cinnamon rolls! lol
and same here – we just use left over potatoes.
and for a fun twist? after thanksgiving, use the left over sweet potato casserole in place of the mashed potatoes -
yum.

These are beyond delicious. I couldn’t wait for them to cool before I drizzled the frosting on top of one…and lucky me, the kids and the hubby are in bed, so that makes these cinnamon rolls ALL MINE…for now!
