Description

A western spice mix and homemade bread crumbs takes these baked jalapeno poppers up a notch. Quick and easy to make, these are a new favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Crusty Bread, Cubed
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • ½ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ⅓ cups Cream Cheese
  • ⅓ cups Sharp Cheddar, Grated
  • 3 whole Jalapenos, Halved Lengthwise And Seeded

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Toss bread crumbs with olive oil and spread on a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Once cooled, pulse in a food processor or blender until it has a coarse breadcrumb consistency.

Increase oven temperature to 400ºF. Whisk onion powder, garlic powder, brown sugar, chili powder, pepper, and salt in a bowl. Mix spices with cream cheese and cheddar.

Halve jalapenos lengthwise, remove seeds, and spread cream cheese mixture down the center. Dip cream cheese side into bread crumbs and place on a greased baking sheet, cream cheese side up. Bake 10–12 minutes, until cheese is bubbly.
