Description

Creamy spinach dip with lots of cheddar cheese, baked in a sourdough bread bowl. Excellent for parties.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Frozen Chopped Spinach, Thawed And Drained (roughly 250 Grams)
  • 1 package Cream Cheese (8oz/250 Grams), At Room Temperature
  • 1-½ cup Mayonnaise
  • ¾ cups Chopped Onion
  • 2 teaspoons Dill Weed
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 loaf Sourdough Breadbowl

Preparation

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 F. Take your bread bowl and cut it just above the halfway mark. Scoop out bread from the bottom half, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Scoop out the bread from the top as well. Reserve in a resealable bag until use.

Step 2: Take your thawed spinach and really squeeze the liquid out of it. If you don’t, the dip will end up runny. Chop up the spinach and reserve.

Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, add the cream cheese and mayo. Mix together until well combined. Now add the minced onion, dill weed, and garlic salt. Stir in the spinach and cheddar cheese.

Step 4: Pour the mixture into the bottom of the bread bowl. Put the top on and wrap very well in tin foil. Place in the oven, checking after 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring it up. Taste test – it may need up to an additional hour.

Serve with the reserved bread and additional bread like baguette or crackers. The whole bread bowl can be eaten as well!

I made this for our Christmas Eve get-together and everyone asked for the recipe. It is yummy!! Unfortunately, I could only find Italian bread for the breadbowl and it was a bit hard. Next time I will shop earlier!!! Thanks for sharing.
