Description

These are the BEST party snack food. I’ve never found anyone who didn’t like them—even people who don’t think they like sausage! I make them for every get-together. Around the holidays, my husband and I probably make them twice a week! The best thing about them is that there’s no measuring. Just a package of this and a jar of that. And I can run through the grocery store and pick up the six ingredients with my eyes closed.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (12 Oz. Package) Wonton Wrappers
  • 1 pound Sausage
  • 8 ounces, weight Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Grated
  • 8 ounces, fluid Ranch Dressing
  • 1 can (4 Oz. Can) Chopped Olives
  • 1 jar (4 Oz. Jar) Diced Pimientos

Preparation

First, brown the pound of sausage in a skillet. Drain off excess grease, and put on a plate with paper towels to help get even more grease out. Mix this browned sausage with the grated cheese, pimientos, and olives. (Please include the olives, even if you don’t think you like them! Trust me.) Pour in the ranch dressing and mix together. This is your filling. It can sit in the refrigerator for a while if you need time to get other food ready.

Next, make your wonton “shells.” You need to form the wonton wrappers down into a mini muffin pan. I use the pestle from my mortar and pestle to press the wrappers into the muffin cups. They will sort of fold in on themselves. Just try to be sure that there’s a good opening at the top to fill it.

Now put the muffin pans with EMPTY wonton wrappers in a 350-degree oven. Bake for about 5-10 minutes, till shells are a light tan and crispy.

The shells can also be set aside for several hours before filling. But once the shells are filled, it’s best to heat and serve fairly soon, to keep them from becoming soggy.

Finally, fill the shells with the sausage mixture. Place the filled shells on a large sheet pan. Put them back in the 350-degree oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly.

Enjoy!
