Description

Pepperoni and string cheese wrapped in an egg roll wrapper. Then fried and served with a marinara dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • 3 pieces String Cheese, Unwrapped And Cut In Half
  • 6 whole Egg Roll Wrappers
  • 12 pieces Pepperoni, Large Or Medium Size
  • 2 cups Canola Oil
  • ½ cups Marinara Sauce, Any Kind Of Your Liking

Preparation

Cut each piece of string cheese in half lengthwise. Take one egg roll wrapper and place it on your work surface, placing it sideways to look like a diamond. Grab two pieces of pepperoni (you can use either the sandwich type of pepperoni which is much larger or the medium size which is normally used for pizzas). Line up the pepperoni side by side approximately halfway up the egg roll wrapper. Place one half of the string cheese, lengthwise, on top of the pepperoni. Roll the egg roll wrapper starting from both sides, folding inward towards the center. Grab the bottom of the wrapper and pull it up towards the center. Don’t roll it too tight but make sure the pepperoni and string cheese is nice and snug. Roll it up to the end. Seal lightly with water and set aside to finish the remaining pizza sticks.

Once you have finished prepping the sticks, you can place them in the fridge until you’re ready to fry and serve.

If you’re ready to make them, add the oil into a frying pan and heat on a medium level. While your oil is heating up you can pour your marinara sauce into a dipping bowl or you can heat it in a saucepan on the stove. Whichever works for you. For me, I place sauce into a small microwavable bowl, place into the microwave, cover with a lid or paper plate (this helps keep the sauce in the bowl and not all over the microwave) and heat for approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute. You also want to get a couple of paper towels set out so you can place the finished pizza sticks on them to drain the oil.

Once the oil has been heated, add the sticks into the pot in a single layer. Make sure that the oil is not too hot because you want the cheese to melt but you don’t want the outside to burn. Cook the sticks on each side for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove finished pizza sticks from the pan using tongs and place on the paper towels to drain the oil. Serve with the marinara sauce.

This recipe is for six sticks but you can make more depending on the situation. The more the better.
