Description

A step-by-step guide to making perfect homemade popcorn. No more bags of the microwave stuff!

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Peanut Or Vegetable Oil
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Popping Corn Kernels
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter, Melted

Preparation

1. In a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan, add the oil, salt and popping corn. Turn the heat to medium, cover the pot with a lid left slightly ajar, and shake once or twice.

2. The corn kernels will begin to pop within a minute or two. Once the popping slows almost to a stop, remove the pot from the heat.

3. Transfer the popcorn to a large serving bowl and drizzle with melted butter, tossing well to combine. Add more butter or salt, if preferred.

When we were in college, my husband and I used to go to the movies alot and loved the theater popcorn. So much so that I asked the person in charge what made the taste so wonderful. They used” Coconut Oil” , and I’ve been using it ever since.

Seeing your picture of the popcorn reminded me of a time when my sister and I attempted to make popcorn. So here we go, we put the oil in, poured the popcorn in. Went into another room, sat down to watch a little TV. About five minutes later, OMG! We didn’t put a lid on the pan! We had popcorn all over the kitchen, and it was still popping out!

I still to this date always pour too much popcorn in the pan. I’ll try your ratio.

Thanks! :)
