Description

A marriage of the classic grilled cheese sandwich and pepperoni pizza. Flavourful pizza sauce, crispy pepperoni and gooey American cheese all between toasted, golden brown sandwich bread.

Ingredients

  • ½ Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 30 slices Pepperoni
  • 6 ounces, weight Tomato Paste
  • 6 ounces, fluid Water
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Parsley
  • ½ teaspoons Basil
  • ½ teaspoons Oregano
  • ½ teaspoons Red Pepper Flakes
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Sugar
  • 12 slices Your Favourite Sandwich Bread
  • 12 slices American Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Butter

Preparation

Heat the oil in a large skillet and cook the pepperoni.

Combine the tomato paste and water until smooth. Fold in the salt, spices and sugar into the tomato mixture.

Spread the tomato sauce on one side of each slice of bread.

Assemble the sandwiches:

Place a slice of cheese onto the tomato-spread side of each slice of bread.

Place 5 slices of pepperoni onto one side of each sandwich, and close the sandwiches.

Melt the butter on a griddle and toast sandwiches on both sides until crispy and golden brown. Use a weight or sandwich press to press the sandwiches onto the griddle.
