Description

A different take on the everyday sausage balls.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE SAUSAGE BALLS:
  • 1 cup Shredded Colby-jack Cheese
  • 2 cups Baking Mix (such As Bisquick Or Pioneer)
  • 1 Tablespoon Tony's Seasoning
  • ⅛ teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Chives
  • 1 pound Ground Mild Breakfast Sausage
  • ¼ cups Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Pure Maple Syrup
  • FOR THE MAPLE DIJON SAUCE:
  • ½ cups Mayonnaise
  • ¼ cups Dijon Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons Pure Maple Syrup

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF and grease a large baking sheet.

Combine cheese, baking mix, and seasonings into a large bowl. Then add and incorporate the sausage with your hands or if you prefer you can use a spoon. Trust me it’s easier with your hands. Then add the milk slowly and not all at once. Use your judgment about the consistency of the dough. If it is too dry add a little more milk, if it’s too wet then stop adding milk. Last but not least, add that delicious maple syrup. I know that pure maple syrup can be on the pricey side, so if you can’t get it then regular syrup will do just fine.

Drop the dough onto greased baking sheet by rounded tablespoon fulls (or you can use a cookie dough scoop). Bake for 15-20 minutes until tops are specked with golden brown.

Dipping Sauce:
Combine the last 3 ingredients and stir well! Make sure to refrigerate the sauce until you’re ready to eat.

These were great! Love the combination of maple and dijon. I was worried they were gonna be like meatballs, but they puffed up so nicely. Thanks!
