Description

This is the way we make our mix when we go riding or camping. This with homemade jerky is reason enough to go for a long ride!

Ingredients

  • Any Combination Of The Following, Or Your Preference, To Make A Total Of About 10 Cups:
  • Mini Pretzels
  • Chex Or Crispix-type Cereals(corn Or Rice Work Best)
  • Salted Nuts Like Peanuts, Cashews, Pecans Halves,
  • Dried Fruit Like Raisins, Cranberries, Bananas, Apricots, Etc
  • 1 Stick SALTED Butter, Melted
  • 1/2 Cup Honey

Preparation

Mix all ingredients except for butter and honey in large bowl or on jelly roll pan.

Combine butter and honey and pour over other ingredients. Stir to coat well.

Spread in single layer on jelly roll pan and bake about 30 minutes at 300 until glazed and dry(snack pieces should absorb the honey so finished mix won’t be sticky).

Pour out onto wax paper and cool completely.

Mix is stable in air tight container for a couple days, without worry.

I made this for my husband and son for their hiking trip. I was a bit nervouse that it was going to be sticky after I removed it from the oven … but once it dried and cooled, it wasn’t at all. It made a tasty treat for their trip and I kept some at home for me and I couldn’t keep my fingers out of it.
