This recipe is amazing! Can’t wait to try some additions, like chives out of my garden or roasted red peppers.

One of the better hummus recipes I have tried. Came out really smooth and portions seemed right especially if you’re trying it out for the first time.
It had a little too much bite our tastes, I’m thinking it was the lemon juice or the garlic. If I made again I would use less lemon (I measured out 1/4 cup lemon juice which took 2/3 a lemon juiced, next time I won’t measure I’ll just use 1/2 lemon juiced) and maybe some smaller garlic cloves. Also I’ve seen instances where they cook some onion and garlic with the chickpeas, that might decrease the bite of the garlic.
I didn’t have just cayenne or just cumin or just paprika so I threw in some chili powder (which has all of those ingredients) and was delightfully surprised with the result.
Overall previous ratings were right on.

My husband absolutely loved this recipe! Way better than the store-bought stuff.

I made this for a party where nobody had even heard of hummus, and everyone loved it!

This recipe was great! I don’t think I can go back to store bought now. I think it was the perfect amount of garlic and lemon juice and I LOVE the little bit of bite that it has. Thanks so much for this! I love this site.

Great recipe! I omitted the cayenne and added extra garlic. I also didn’t add quite as much lemon juice. This got rave reviews at my house!

Mine came out almost too lemony, but I suspect that’s from using fresh squeezed lemon juice instead of bottled juice. I ended up adding another tablespoon of tahini to tone it down.

Absolutely fabulous! Smooth with a little zest from the lemon juice. I only put in 1/4 tsp cumin and no cayenne, just personal preference. I can’t wait to take this to playgroup!
Thanks,
Laurie

would it be ok to leave out the tahini? does it dramatically change the taste? we have food allergies here…

I love homemade hummus – it’s the only way to go!

This was also the first time I cooked my own beans instead of using canned; I swear it so much smoother and tastier than the canned chickpeas. Also using a crockpot to cook the chickpeas worked great (I didn’t even pre-soak!).

This looks exactly like the hummus I had while I was in Abu Dhabi. A few more ingredients, perhaps, but man was that stuff delicious.
