Description

This recipe can be served as an appetizer or snack. It’s very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BATTER:
  • 3-⅝ ounces, weight Gram (chickpea) Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ⅛ teaspoons Turmeric Powder
  • ½ cups Water - More Or Less As Needed To Make A Thick Batter

  • FOR THE FILLING:
  • 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • ½ teaspoons Mustard Powder
  • 3 teaspoons Onion, Chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Green Chili, Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Curry Leaves Chopped
  • ½ teaspoons Turmeric Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Cumin Seeds
  • ½ teaspoons Salt To Taste
  • ½ pounds, ⅞ ounces, weight Prepared Or Left Over Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 cup, 2-⅔ teaspoons, ⅞ pinches Fresh Coconut Oil

Preparation

For the filling: Heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard, onion , green chili, curry leaves, turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin seeds and salt. Fry until the onion turns translucent. Add mashed potatoes and mix well. Remove from heat and set the mixture aside.

Make the batter. Put the gram flour into a bowl and add salt, black pepper, baking soda and turmeric powder. Mix thoroughly. Add enough water to make a thick batter.

Heat coconut oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

Next make small balls out of the filling mixture. Thoroughly coat the balls with the batter and then deep fry till light brown.

Serve hot with tomato sauce. Enjoy.
