Description

These are the perfect appetizer for your summertime grill parties. Unlike grilled figs with bolder blue cheeses, these allow the delicately sweet flavor of the figs to really shine through. Make sure to use SMOKED mozzarella, because it really makes all the difference and creates a nice creamy center. You can usually find it in better-stocked grocery stores.

Ingredients

  • 12 Fresh Figs
  • 12 cubes (1/2 Inch Chunks) Smoked Mozzarella
  • 6 slices Prosciutto, Cut Lengthwise Into 4 Pieces Each (24 Pieces Total)

Preparation

1. Make an X in the top of each fig, being careful not to slice through the bottom.

2. Stuff each fig with smoked mozzarella.

3. Wrap each fig with 2 pieces of prosciutto, crossing over one another, making sure to cover completely.

4. Grill over medium-low heat for approximately 5 minutes, turning to ensure even browning. If necessary, spray grill lightly with oil to prevent sticking.

5. Figs are done when prosciutto is brown and just beginning to crisp, and figs are soft. Move to upper grill rack to keep warm if you are grilling other items and not serving immediately.

6. Serve warm.

Couldn’t find smoked mozzarella, so we used Stilton.

And they turned out great!
