Put some water into a large pot and add your steamer basket. Bring the water to a boil, add the artichokes and steam them for 15 minutes until tender done.
Meanwhile preheat grill to medium heat.
Remove artichokes from heat and cut them in half, scraping out the non-edible inside and just leaving the leaves.
Brush the inside and outside of the artichoke halves with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Grill 3 minutes and flip. Grill another 3 minutes.
