Description

Yummy wontons filled with shrimp and pork.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE WONTONS:
  • ½ pounds Ground Pork
  • ½ pounds Shrimp, Peeled, Chopped Fine
  • 3 sprigs Green Onions, Finely Minced
  • 1 can Water Chestnuts, 8-oz. Can, Finely Chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons White Pepper, Ground
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame Oil
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • 1 package (12 Oz. Package) Wonton Wrappers, About 60 To 75 Pieces
  • 4 cups Oil, For Frying
  • _____
  • FOR THE EGG WASH:
  • 1 whole Egg White
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch

Preparation

Mix egg wash ingredients in a small bowl until well combined. Set aside.

Combine wonton ingredients (except wonton wrappers and oil for frying) in a bowl and mix well.

Spoon about 1 teaspoon of shrimp-meat mixture in the center of a wonton skin. Brush edges of skin with egg wash, using the tip of your finger. Fold skin over to form a triangle and press edges to seal.

Heat oil in a heavy duty cast iron pot or deep fryer to 375 degrees F. Fry wontons 6-7 at a time until golden brown, about 2 minutes, turning once.

Drain on a wire rack. Can be made 1 hour ahead. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Note: For reheating, preheat oven 300 degrees F and bake for 4-5 minutes until warmed.
