Description

There’s just something romantic about figs. Try this sweet and salty Fig and Goat Cheese Crostini for Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil, Divided
  • ½ whole Onions, Diced
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Sugar
  • 4 slices Baguette
  • ½ cups Goat Cheese
  • 2 whole Dried Calmyra Figs, Sliced

Preparation

1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat and when oil is hot, toss diced onions in.

2. Add the salt and sugar to the onions and cook until golden brown, then remove from heat and set aside. Take care not to make the pan too hot which can burn the onions.

3. While the onions are cooking, drizzle the other 1 tablespoon of olive oil over top of the baguette slices. Then place in an oven at 375 degrees F until browned.

4. Once the baguette slices are ready and browned, take them out of the oven and spoon carmelized onions on top. Divide the onions evenly among all slices.

5. Then, spoon goat cheese over the onions (at this point you can opt to place the baguette slices back in the oven to broil at 500 degrees F until the goat cheese is bubbly and browned – watch carefully!)

6. Finally, top with a slice of dried calmyra fig. Enjoy!
