Description

This sweet, creamy dip is delicious as a dip for Ginger Snaps or chewy ginger cookies. Perfect for potlucks and family gatherings in the fall. It is a Thanksgiving tradition in our house. I use a small scraped out pumpkin or pumpkin-shaped bowl to serve this in.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Softened Cream Cheese
  • 1 cup Powdered (Icing) Sugar
  • 2 cups Pumpkin Pie Filling (ready-mixed)
  • FOR YOUR OWN PUMPKIN PIE FILLING:
  • 2 cups Pure Pumpkin, More Or Less To Taste
  • 2 teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Spice, Or To Taste
  • FOR YOUR OWN PUMPKIN SPICE:
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, Or To Taste
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Ginger (or To Taste)
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg, Or To Taste
  • ⅛ teaspoons Cloves, Or To Taste

Preparation

Mix together cream cheese and sugar. Add pumpkin pie filling, and stir until well blended.

Note: If desired, make your own pumpkin pie filling, adjusting the amount of pure pumpkin used based on the amount of pumpkin flavor you want. You can also make your own pumpkin pie spice and adjust the amounts of spices to taste.

Dip ginger cookies in it and enjoy! This is also very tasty with sliced apples. Refrigerate any leftovers. If using a small carved out pumpkin for serving, transfer to airtight storage container before refrigerating.

This was very good! I had to add cinnamon, nutmeg, and a lot of extra powdered sugar to mine but I think that is because I bought the pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling (I know, you specifically warned us about that!). It still tasted great, though. I took it to a party and everyone loved it. I served it with cinnamon graham crackers and it was perfect. I was later told that it tasted very good over vanilla ice cream although I have not tried that for myself. This was sooo easy and is definitely something I will be making again this Fall! Thanks for the recipe!
