How many cups of popped corn will come from 1 cup of unpopped corn?

Since I don’t have a popcorn popper, I substituted microwave popcorn. I just guessed at the amount of popped pocorn- I used 2 bags of plain popcorn (Orville Redenbacher’s Tender White), but it probably should have been only one. The coating was a little sparse. My family agreed that it had great flavor, but it did not harden up like I expected it would. (I was expecting a kind of cinnamon flavored carmel corn). I cooked the butter/sugar mixture until it was at a full rolling boil, but then pulled it from the heat. Perhaps I didn’t cook it long enough. I’m not sure why the oven part is neccesary. Nothing seemed to change while the popcorn was in the oven. If the author could elaborate on the directions, I might try it again. Thank you for sharing- the cinnamon flavor was quite tasty.
