Description

Hot, melty cheese cooked inside bread. Need I say more?

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Sourdough Bread
  • 8 ounces, weight Shredded Cheese - Cheddar, Mexican Blend - Whatever You Have On Hand!
  • 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 8 ounces, weight Salsa - Mild To Medium Works Best, And Tomato-based Is Better Than Pico De Gallo
  • 8 ounces, weight Sour Cream. I Use Light.

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Slice the top off of the loaf of bread, and dig out all of the innards of the bread bowl, so that the crust remains as the ‘shell.’ (Save the bread bits—they’re great for dunking in the dip!)

Combine the remaining ingredients.

Fill the bread bowl with the cheese dip.

Replace the top on the bread bowl, and double wrap the entire thing in heavy duty aluminum foil.

Place it on a cookie sheet, and warm it in the oven for 2 hours.

Remove from the oven, unwrap, and go to town with chips, bread, pita bread, whatever suits your fancy.

Note: in an emergency, if you’re desperate and don’t have a bread bowl nearby, warm it all up in a sauce pan or small crock pot and use it as a bread-bowl-less dip!

2 hours at 350? Isn’t that kinda long?
