Description

Super easy homemade granola bars! Control exactly what goes into your favorite snack! I got the recipe from my cycling friends, which explains the name.

Ingredients

  • The Basics:
  • 2 cups Regular Oats (not Instant)
  • 1 cup Flour (I Like Stone Ground Whole Wheat Flour Best)
  • ¼ cups Brown Sugar (optional)
  • ½ cups Wheat Germ
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • ½ cups Honey
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla (i Usually Use More)
  • The Extras:
  • Dried Fruit, Nuts, Seeds
  • (think Dried Apricots, Papaya, Mango, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Walnuts, Almonds, Pecans, Or Even Chocolate Chips)
  • You Can Also Add Mashed Figs Or Bananas, Or Peanut Butter

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan .

2. Combine all dry ingredients. (including the “dry” extras)

3. In a small bowl, beat the egg. Pour in the oil, honey, and vanilla and stir. (including “wet” ingredients like mashed bananas, figs, or peanut butter)

4. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet. Stir well.

5. Dump into the greased baking pan, spreading evenly and pressing it in with your hands to pack it in and make it all stick together well.

6. Bake for about 22-25 minutes or until the edges begin to brown. Let cool for a few minutes, but be sure to cut them before they cool completely because they harden as they cool.

7. Start making another batch right away because these won’t last long!
