Description

Moist flavourful meatballs in a thick rich homemade barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Beef, Lean Ground
  • 1 whole Egg, Lightly Beaten
  • 5 ounces, fluid Whole Milk
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • ½ cups Chopped Onions
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Minced Garlic
  • ¼ teaspoons Pepper
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • ¾ cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • ¼ cups Chopped Onions
  • ½ teaspoons Liquid Smoke
  • ¼ teaspoons Minced Garlic

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Combine first 9 ingredients, just until mixed through. Do not over-mix, as this makes for tough meatballs.

Form meatballs and spread in an even layer on baking sheet.* Bake for 25 minutes or until meatballs are no longer pink in center. Remove to a dutch oven (or 4 qt casserole) with a slotted spoon.

Combine remaining ingredients in a small saucepan over med-high heat. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and pour over meatballs, turning to coat.

Bake an additional 15 minutes and serve.

*Meatballs can be flash frozen on baking sheet and then put into a sealed container or bag and frozen at this point. To prepare, just spread evenly on baking sheet and bake according to recipe directions. Add sauce and enjoy!
