Description

Try these homemade tortilla chips. The end result is a delicious and crunchy chip that has a true corn taste without unnecessary fat. They are far less expensive than packaged chips. Cut the tortillas into strips and enjoy over soups, chili, and salads.

Ingredients

  • 12 whole Corn Tortillas Cut Into Quarters
  • 1 teaspoon Canola Or Olive Oil
  • 3 pinches Kosher Salt

Preparation

1) Preheat oven to 300F.
2) Place the cut tortillas into a medium size mixing bowl. Drizzle oil over and add salt. Toss carefully with your hands to evenly coat. Spread the chips/strips over a cookie sheet being careful not to overlap them. You will have to bake these in a couple of batches. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until completely dry. Cool completely and store in an air tight zip bag or container.

*Serve chips with your favorite dip or over salads.
*Add any seasoning you like. Great with granulated garlic, chipotle, or cayenne for kick.

Yes, I had one of those once, it didn’t fare well over time! They are great for this sort of thing. Thank you for trying my recipe!

Crisp and tasty! Not too oily. I left out the salt. Next time I might try spraying the oil on with my olive oil sprayer. This recipe saved me from running to the store to buy corn chips on the Friday of Labor Day weekend–thank you!

Perfect baking temperature–chips came out just crisp enough and not at all soggy.
