Description

A dish that changed my family’s outlook on the strange little green veggie!

Ingredients

  • 2 pints Fresh Small Brussels Sprouts, Cleaned, Trimmed And Halved
  • 1 dash Garlic Salt (you Can Use Real Minced Garlic, But I Feel This Does A More Even Job)
  • ½ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil Or Melted Butter
  • 4 slices Thick Cut Bacon Cut Into Thin Strips, Or Small Dice (peppered Is Really Good, But Any Would Work)

Preparation

Take your cleaned and ready sprouts and toss in the seasoning and olive oil or butter. Toss till there is an even coat on them.

Begin to brown the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until the bacon starts to caramelize. Then add the sprouts and allow them to saute and get a nice color going, about 5 minutes.

At this point you can either throw them on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 325F or continue to cook them on the stovetop for the same amount of time covered.

Test to see if they’re tender at this point (the cooking time depends on the size of the sprout).

Enjoy!

A friend of mine told me about cooking brussel sprouts like this, but we put onion too. My family didn’t care much for brussle sprouts but now we love them this way, same as with green beans :-)
