Description
This incredibly sweet popcorn is addictive and is a great treat for movie nights with the family. This recipe has been handed down on my mother’s side for at least 4 generations.
Ingredients
- 1 whole LARGE Bowl Of Popped Popcorn
- 2 cups Sugar
- ½ cups Water
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 6 drops Red Food Coloring (approximately)
Preparation
Combine sugar and water in a 1 quart saucepan over medium heat. Let it boil until it “spins a thread.” Add vanilla and food coloring. Pour over popcorn and stir until it goes hard.

I am so glad to have found this recipe. I had forgotton all about “pink popcorn”, but recently found some in a local grocery store. I was telling my kids (who loved it) that my mom used to make it when I was a kid for an occasional special treat on weekend nights. My favorite part was testing the concotion until it would “spin a thread”. My son wanted to try making it so I was hunting for a recipe…..so glad I found one!
